Tiny Tim
A small child of a working poor family in victorian-era london. He walks with a crutch and "his limbs are supported by an iron frame". He's a happy, loving kid with a big spirit, but his family is too poor to give him the care he needs, and there is a constant worry that he might not survive.
Where is he from?
Tiny Tim is a featured character in A Christmas Carol, a novella by Charles Dickens, an english author considered to be the greatest novelist of the victorian era, and one of the few artists to be recognized as a literary genius during their own lifetime. Tim is a classic Dickensian character; he is obviously deeply in need of love and care, both because of his age and his ailment, instilling in the reader a desire to reach out and help him. Dickens regularly used this sort of character to point out the social disparity in victorian England. There have been countless adapatations of this story, but we can look at some of them here:
