Harry Dresden
A modern-day wizard and detective, he works with the Chicago PD solving paranormal crimes.
Where is he from?
Harry Dresden is the titular character in Jim Butcher's urban fantasy series of novels the Dresden Files, which started publication in 2000. They are essentially the gold standard of modern urban fantasy, and they are very, very good.
There HAS been a live action version of Harry Dresden, technically. the SciFi Channel aired a Dresden Files series in 2007 for a single season, starring the awesomely-named Paul Blackthorne, future cast member of Arrow. The show was pretty watchable, and Blackthorne was a cool hero, but it was also a bit too much of a departure from the source material to adequately be called an adaptation. If you really want to enjoy this character, the best place is still in the novels themselves.
