Martha Jones
An actual doctor, genius, and utter badass who can literally do anything. We love her.
Where is she from?
The Russel T. Davis era of the modern Doctor Who is, by a wide, wide margin, the best years of the series. Everyone adored the first new companion, Rose, and so when she left and a new companion joined the series (a longtime staple of the show) a lot of the fanbase was hesitant to show her the same love. However, add in the fact that she was a POC and suffered the usual racist nonsense, however, and Martha is now best remembered as being an AMAZINGLY capable character that simply doesn't get the fan-love she deserves, despite being the companion in the best episodes of the entire series ("Human Nature", "The Family of Blood", & "Blink"... don't @ me.)
In fact, If there's any possible weakness in the character concept, it's that she's so staggeringly acomplished as a hero in her own right that she often outshone the Doctor himself. She's played by Freema Agyeman, who gets to do whatever she wants, forever.
