Jack Sparrow
The captain of the infameous Black Pearl, and one of the nine pirate lords in the Brethren Court. He's also kind of a lot to deal with.
Where is he from?
Captain Jack Sparrow was a explosion of a character in the original Pirates of the Carribean movie, which none of us were really expecting much of, so when it turned out be an absolutely delightful genre romp we all adored it. Jack's character is largely due to the performance of Johnny Depp, who has, along with Disney and Jerry Bruckheimer films, completely drained this character and franchise of every last drop of interest, entertainment value, and fan goodwill it ever had.
Disney is unlikely to ever stop milking this franchise, but with Depp getting older and his personal troubles, we're probably going to see the character recast eventually. There was already a sort-of dry run of the concept in one one of the later films where a younger version of the character briefly appeared, played by a CG-assisted Anthony De La Torre. There was a rumor that we might see Zac Effron as a younger verison of the character? We'll see if they can find a way to make us care about the franchise again.
