Jadis the White Witch Appearances
Jadis is the main antagonist in the Chronicles of Narnia, a series of fantasy novels with heavy christian overtones created by noted buddy of Tolkien, C.S. Lewis.
Jadis first appeared in the 1967 TV serial The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, where she was played by Elizabeth Wallace.
She later appeared in the children television workshop's 1979 animated version of The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, where she was voiced by Beth Porter, although Sheila Hancock did her voice in the British broadcast.
The four books in the series (in publication, not chronological order) were all made into BBC serials between 1988 and 1990, where Jadis was played, awesomely, by Barbara Kellerman. She also played Lady of the Green Kirtle in fourth serial The Silver Chair, lending credence to the theory that she is, in fact, Jadis reborn.
Disney produced three Chronicles of Narnia feature films, starting in 2005, based on the first three books. Tilda Swinton just knocked her out of the park, She really has to be seen to be believed. This is where she becomes a much more malevolent villain, and a lot of that is due to the intensity Tilda brings to the part.
