Where is he from?
Hannibal is a character that started as an antognist in Thomas Harris's 1981 suspense horror novel Red Dragon and it's follow-up, 1988's The Silence of the Lambs. The character became the protagonist in the later books in the series after the runaway success of the film adaptation of the second book, which produced one of the greatest movie characters of all time.
