Hitomi Kanzaki
A first-year high school student and track athlete, Hitomi has a vision of a young man battling a dragon, and then finds herself off on an adventure in the world of Gaea...
Where is she from?
Hitomi is the main protagonist of Visions of Escaflowne, an anime television series that aired in Japan in 1996. While anime is often adapted from manga, in this case Escaflowne was an entirely original property (although there have been a few different manga adaptations since, as well as a movie adaptation in 2000). Hitomi is a fantastic character, full of fantasy potential, right up there Sarah herself. She was originally voiced by then 16-year-old Japanese voice actress and singer Maaya Sakamoto. The series has had two different engish dubs, once by Bandai, where Hitomi is voiced by Kelly Sheridan, and then by Funimation, where she's voiced by Caitlin Glass.
